Situated the outskirts of Dusseldorf, in the garden city Alt-Meererbusch, this ensemble of two houses with shared underground parking creates a secluded home for two generations of a single family among old growth trees and landscaped gardens. While the buildings remain hidden behind tall hedges along a narrow access path only interrupted by gates and protruding porticos, their glazed fronts, balconies and plant conservatories open towards the garden spaces. Quoting architectural elements typical of the English country house, the two-story structures show a distinct horizontal alignment with low pitched roofs, continuous string courses, and brick layering.
